Strictly a novelty item. This is UVA at the extreme end of the wavelength & not too great for fluorescent minerals (which is why I bought it.) I was only allowed to post one image, so I was unable to show my rock in daylight or the image I took of older Canadian paper money. I gave one to my daughter's room mate and we had fun checking out various things in the house like day-glo artwork! That was fun!! Worth it? Depends on how easily you are amused. I gave both of mine away, mainly because I already have a collection of UV lamps already.
